Identity and website concept I’ve been working on for what would have been a new record label and club night- “down”. Unfortunately the whole thing is no longer going ahead but it was fun to work on non the less.
(The images used are placeholders only and have nothing to do with down, they’re just bands I like!)

Family are a UK based design studio working primarily in the music, arts and culture sectors.
They have a very distinct, minimal style that combine’s typography and illustration. Their visual style is one that I see copied on a day to day basis, quite often not nearly as well done.

Only just seen it as I currently have no internet at home but some of my work was featured on It’s Nice That this weekend! It’s Nice That is one of my favourite blogs and they featured my Royal Park Zine in their ‘Things’ section. The photos above are from the article.
You can read it here: www.itsnicethat.com/articles/things-61-3
There’s more info and you can buy the zines here if you wish: www.mattlanedixon.co.uk

I’ve just launched my new website. Running on Cargo premium its a lot cleaner and easier to navigate than my old one. Lots of new work on there as well.
Please have a look and let me know what you think.
Thanks
The second in a new series of type images.
This one is a riff on the Carson mantra, “don’t mistake legibility for communication.”

Recently did another small illustration for No Title Magazine’s website.

I have recently started working at Rabbit Hole, a branding and digital design studio in Leeds. Its going good so far and I think its going to be a really good place to work.
The other cool thing about it is that their studio is based in the amazing Duke Studios, a new, multidisciplinary creative space in Leeds’ city centre. The images above are where I work. The space is divided into separate studios for each company by these brilliant cardboard walls. Its a very collaborative space and there’s a good mix of designers, architects, pr and social media companies, as well as freelancers, all under the one roof.
It will be open fully within the next few months so I’ll post some images once it’s official!
Interview on The Young Creatives
Big thanks to ‘The Young Creatives,’A platform for young people (ages 25 and under) to showcase their work, for featuring me as one of their creatives. You can read the interview by following the link and then go check out all their other interviews.
Poster for the new 3D version of Star Wars episode 1. Out of all the posters that have been released, this is probably the weakest. My main issue is the kerning on ‘ourselves.’
Because it is dead centre to the poster and because the spacing between the ‘s’ and the ‘e’ is so off all I can see it the word ELVES. Which takes the fear out of Darth Maul somewhat.
